The ANM program is a 2-year diploma course designed primarily for women who wish to serve at the community and primary healthcare level. ANM nurses are deployed in government health sub-centres, primary health centres, anganwadis, and rural hospitals.
ANM graduates play a pivotal role in maternal and child health, immunisation programs, family planning, and basic first aid delivery. With India's growing rural health infrastructure, the demand for ANM professionals has never been higher.
Career Opportunities: Government ASHA/ANM positions, PHC, CHC, private clinics, maternity homes, NGO health programs, and armed forces nursing roles.
The GNM is a 3-year diploma (including 6-month internship) that provides comprehensive training in hospital nursing. It covers medical-surgical nursing, community health nursing, pediatric nursing, obstetric & gynecological nursing, psychiatric nursing, and midwifery.
GNM graduates are eligible for registration with the State Nursing Council and can work as Staff Nurses in government and private hospitals, railway hospitals, defence establishments, and international healthcare settings.
